Avery and Josh have a teenage daughter that has requested a “room makeover” for the holidays. It cost $2700 for the furniture and items she wanted. Now, Avery wants to spend a few hundred more so she can have “real presents under the tree” on Christmas. Josh thinks this is absurd. They already spent more money on her than any other child AND she needs gifts to open? He says no, she’s big enough to understand. Would you buy more gifts? (32:06)

Kendall’s brother has been staying with them since his girlfriend threw him out three months ago. He lost his job last year and hasn’t been able to find a new job. Kendall’s husband, Marcus, wants him to be gone after the holidays. He’s afraid that he has no motivation to leave, especially since he doesn’t pay any money to them for rent and gets free meals. Kendall thinks her brother is just going through a rough patch. He doesn’t bother them, the kids love having their uncle there, he even watches the kids when they need him to- plus, he has nowhere to go. When he’s ready, he’ll leave, she doesn’t want to give him a timeline. What do you think? (22:44)

Conner and Alexis host Christmas at their home and they have a huge family. Between 40 and 50 each year. Connor’s mother (that she describes as a crunchy 70-something yoga instructor) suggested they have a “United Nations Potluck” where everyone brings different dishes representing all different countries. Alexis is not into this, as the host she feels like it puts unnecessary stress on her guests, she won’t be able to monitor if there’s enough food, and she feels a holiday like Christmas isn’t an “experiment” holiday. Conner thinks she’s being difficult for no reason, it’s a fun idea that his mom had, just run with it. What do you think? (35:33)
