Friday January 26, 2024: Superbowl Snacks; Chip Dinner; Fired Friday!

Friday January 26, 2024: Superbowl Snacks; Chip Dinner; Fired Friday!

The NFL season is coming to a close soon, but of all the wild story lines this season, Anna’s favorite ended up being something unexpected…

Every Friday, Raven’s wife Alicia calls in to give him a grade on how he did as a husband that week! This week, Alicia is prepping for her girl’s weekend and Raven has some great advice for her!

It’s good to be honest with your kids, but if you’re talking to them about your financial troubles, that’s all I need to know about you!

It’s time to play Fired Friday!  Tell Anna and Raven what went wrong at work, and they’ll try to guess if you got fired!

What are your predictions for football Sunday? Anna doesn’t know what she’s talking about, but 9-year-old Quinn might know a thing or two!

What do you eat when you don’t have to cook for a spouse or the kids? It’s called “Chip Dinner” and it’s been going viral!

It’s time for Mommy’s Margarita Friday!  Moms (and Dads) share all the crazy things that their kids have put them through this week that have definitely earned them a margarita!

The Superbowl is coming up and the snacks are just as important as the game and commercials! Chef Plum from The Food Network joined Anna and Raven to share one of his favorite game day snacks!

Jeremy and Zoey are good friends with another couple that has a son around the same age as their daughter. (They’re nine and 10-years old) They feel that their friend’s son is a bully to their daughter and rude. Zoey wants to talk to the parents about it, they see them every weekend, they should know that their son is a bully. Jeremy disagrees, you can’t tell people how to parent, he’d rather stop spending so much time with them. What would you do if you were in this awkward situation?

Rachel has got a shot at $4800! All she has to do is beat Raven in pop culture trivia!

Thursday January 25, 2024: 1st Date Traditions; Sings of a Psycho; What Are They Talking About?

Alaska Airlines have been in the news for all the wrong reasons these days and there’s a new announcement that’s making things worse!

Anna has three crazy news stories but Raven can only pick one! Today his options are; a birth at a McDonalds; a controversial reaction to student TikTok videos, and a free-wheelin’ plane!

Air conditioners can be a pain to install, but if you leave in your window even when it’s cold outside, that’s all I need to know about you!

What are your grocery store essentials? Anna found an article about how to save money while grocery shopping, but she’d rather follow her own list!

Do you ever feel like everyone is talking about something you know nothing about?  Anna’s Instagram algorithm is completely obsessed with something that she just doesn’t understand!

Are you up to date on this week’s biggest news stories? Anna and Raven will get you caught up on what’s trending, including the party at the house of one of the richest people in the world!

What’s the telltale sign that someone is a psycho? Anna found a study that can easily identify the psychos in your life!

Is there something that you always do before a first date? Anna was shocked that 51% of people do something before a first date that may seem redundant!

Julie and Travis have one dog of their own, but Julie has recently started volunteering at a local shelter and has taken home five dogs to foster. Travis says it’s too much, she has to return three of them. She says it’s temporary, they need a place, and she’s doing her part to help animals and the community. Is he overreacting since it’s only temporary? (Even though there’s no end date?)

Wednesday January 24, 2024: Raven’s Ice Bath; First Purchase Ever; Dumb HOA Rules

Anna has been having a problem, and she thinks it might be because of how technology has advanced too quickly.

Today’s Wellness Wednesday is all about the benefits of an ice bath, but can Raven deal with the cold to get some relief?

If you do this while eating your food, that’s all I need to know about you!

Oscar nominations are trending, and some people are in an uproar over who was and wasn’t nominated.

Anna’s five-year-old is ready to make her first purchase with her own money. What was the first thing you’ve ever bought with your money?

Cassie and Noah have been dating for five years. Noah recently approached Cassie’s parents to ask them permission to marry her- and they said no. He was in jail for theft a few years ago and they’ve never liked him since. He believes that he’s a different person now, loves Cassie, and wants to get married anyway. They’ll come around, but Cassie says it would mean a lot to her to have her parents support them and if that means waiting, then they should wait. What do you think?

What are the dumb rules you’ve dealt with due to being a part of an HOA?

Does Andrew have what it takes to take down Raven and win the $4,600 jackpot?!

Anna bought a salad, and you won’t believe how much she paid for it! What do you think is too expensive for what it is?

THE FEED: Jenna’s Fantastic Cravings and Where to Find Them!

THE FEED: Jenna’s Fantastic Cravings and Where to Find Them!

Each Tuesday, Kevin and Jenna talk about all things food in Connecticut with Alex from CT Food Girly. Jenna is in her 3rd trimester of pregnancy and the cravings are hitting hard. From chips and nacho cheese to peppermint white mocha lattes, CT Food Girly connects Kevin and Jenna to the best local spots offering great menu items that’ll curb the cravings! Check out Alex’s picks:

 – Taco Bell chips and nacho cheese but would love to check out a more elevated version! What’s a great Mexican spot that offers a good nacho situation? – This past weekend I popped into Eli’s Restaurant in Hamden, they have locations in Branford and Orange as well, and they switched up their nachos, which use to be stacked high with cheddar cheese and now they use their house made white queso, layered on a tray with jalapenos, scallions, guac and sour cream, some pico on there too and it was warm and creamy, perfect for your craving. https://elisrg.com/whitney/

Grilled chicken Caesar salad in a wrap or on top of a nice hot slice of White pizza – I have two here for you, splitting up these awesome cravings. Christos in Wallingford has an amazing caesar wrap, it’s actually called the caesar’s palace wrap. Its grilled chicken loaded into a wrap with romaine lettuce, shaved parm, drizzled with caesar dressing and then served with a side of fries, perfect for dipping into that extra dressing. https://christospizzawlfd.com/

As for your salad pizza, Colony Grill, which has many locations, but is here in Connecticut in Milford, Stamford, Fairfield, and Norwalk, has a salad pizza that is to die for. It’s their signature colony crust baked with a bit of olive oil and sea salt, topped with mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and carrots, and they toss that with a nice balsamic vinaigrette. https://www.colonygrill.com/

-Pepperoncini and subs. The more vinaigrette the better – My go-to deli, growing up in North Haven, is Liuzzi Gourmet Food Market. They have built-to-order sandwiches or pre-made sandwiches to go, they offer a great deli section as well, that definitely has your pepperoncini peppers and all the nice salty meats to layer on top. You can grab a nice cold drink and some chips on your way out. https://www.liuzzimarket.com/

Avocado toast
I love this one, I once was on a huge avocado toast kick, so I can totally get this craving for some creamy avocado. There is a bakery called G Cafe, which has three separate locations in New Haven and one spot in Branford, that serves a whole menu section of toasts. They have a smoked salmon toast, that avocado toast that you’re craving topped with bacon and poached eggs, they have a vegan avo toast with arugula, tomatoes, and olive oil and then a mozzarella avocado toast with fresh mozz, tomato and basil. https://www.gcafebakery.com/

– Fresh Chocolate Chip cookies When you told me you were craving fresh chocolate chip cookies, I knew I had to introduce you to Pasta Avest in Guilford. Every day they make the most amazing warm and chewy chocolate chip cookies. You can buy a whole case or take a couple to- go. They’ll pop them in the warmer for you, and it’s a mouth watering moment. They also serve amazing pasta dishes and pizza if you wanted to keep the deliciousness flowing.
https://www.pastaavest.com/

-Classic Milk Tea, bubble tea, boba – My go-to spot for bubble tea is Loose Leaf, they have a new one in Hamden that just opened up, they’re in Wallingford and New Haven too. They have your classic milk tea, organic matcha, and Vietnamese drip coffee as well. I love the iced strawberry matcha latte. https://www.bobacompany.com/our-stores

Rocky Road ice cream – There is this amazing restaurant concept, called MicroCreamery, where they serve hundreds of flavors of ice cream from different creameries in our state. They have a delicious rocky road with chocolate ice cream, marshmallows, and salty pecans. You can also get a great banana split, sundae or even ice cream nachos here with hot judge and caramel. https://www.microcreameryofct.com/

Ice cold lemonade, especially during my first trimester – Every once in a while, my dad and I go eat at Dino’s Seafood in North Haven, they have amazing fried seafood and a great tartar sauce. We always share a big glass of their grape-ade and I know they carry the ice cold lemonade in there as well. It probably pairs perfectly with that hot seafood and fries. https://www.dinosseafood.com/ –

Peppermint White Mocha drinks  – In Wallingford, the newly opened Cafe Luca Belle was serving up the Candy Cane Lane, which is a peppermint mocha latte topped with peppermint bark and whipped cream, they were offering this hot or cold and with today’s weather, I suggest we all get a hot one. https://cafelucabelle.com/
