THE FEED: Delicious Places To Treat Mom This Weekend

THE FEED: Delicious Places To Treat Mom This Weekend

Every Tuesday, Kevin and Jenna talk about all things food in Connecticut with Alex from CT Food Girly. Mother’s Day is coming up this Sunday and whether your mom loves brunch or loves to sleep in and go out for dinner… Alex has some of the best places in CT to take her this weekend.

Mother’s Day Brunch:

Gruel Britannia in Fairfield is a perfect spot to treat Mom to a Mothers’s Day Brunch or Lunch on May 12th. This restaurant is inspired by British cuisine and they have crafted a delicious brunch menu for the holiday. Some of their specials that sound incredible to me are the lobster tostada, roasted peach spice pancakes, everything bagel with smoked salmon, scallion cream cheese, tomato and sweet onion. Also, their fish tacos in  homemade corn tortillas or pan-seared filet mignon. They will also do special tea time by reservation. They serve you afternoon tea, with a huge assortment of finger sandwiches, sweets and more. This would be a super cute Mother’s Day to-do, dress up together and enjoy tea.

The Reign in Milford is hosting its second annual Mother’s Day brunch, with prepaid reservations required. There will be two seatings, one at 11 am and one at 2 pm. Both seatings come with an assortment of freshly prepared dishes, buffet style, accompanied by live entertainment in this elegant atmosphere. Guests can also add to the experience by purchasing priority seating, complimentary champagne, or a gift for mom.

Moving into New Haven, Elm City Social is gearing up for Mother’s Day. They are offering a prix fixe brunch that mom is sure to love. The menu includes your choice of starter, I saw some great ones online, shrimp cocktail, deviled eggs, chicken wing lollipops, then select your main course, maybe the lobster scrambled eggs, chicken and waffles, or carb cake benedict and then your dessert, lemon squares, raspberry mousse cake, or espresso pot de creme. This brunch is $39.99 per person and you can book your reservations online.

Lastly, treat Mom to a waterfront Mother’s Day brunch at The Wharf Restaurant in Madison. Enjoy stunning views of the Sound while indulging in a delicious brunch buffet . They have made-to-order omelets, a carving station, a raw bar and desserts. There’s something for everyone here and the interior is beautiful, a perfect spot for Mother’s Day.

Mother’s Day Dinner:

The Cottage in Westport and in Greenwich is hosting a four course prix fixe menu from 12pm to 5pm. It is $110 per person and $55 for children. Some goodies from the appetizers are wagyu beef tartare toast, a cottage salad with wild puffed rice, radish and lovage aioli, for seconds, The Cottage is serving an english pea sacchetti with brown butter, sage bread crumbs and parmesan. Third pick, the halibut baked in spruce paper sounds amazing or the wild king salmon baked in cedar. Lastly, for dessert, a pistachio sundae or the strawberry shortcake sound delicious.

In Orage, Ola Latin Kitchen still has some open reservations left for Mother’s Day. They are opening at 3:00 for dinner, they have additions to their menu for the holiday. Including a citric cucumber cocktail, with vodka, st.germain, mint, lime and pineapple juice. They are adding a salmon tartare, a seafood paella, which is my favorite, and a cinnamon and apple blossom for dessert with caramel sauce and ice cream.

In New Haven, Gioia is having a three course prix fixe dinner menu available on May 12th, 19th, and 20th, starting at 4pm. It is $75 per person, for their first course, they have asparagus, grilled polenta, gem lettuce, or burrata. Second course, they have pappardelle with lamb, grilled fish, duck breast or cauliflower. For dessert, they have a chocolate caramel tart, strawberry rhubarb pavlova, or a crispy blueberry cheesecake crostata. It all sounds great, definitely make a reservation.

Lastly, as we head into Guilford, I thought this was neat,The Fresh Market is helping guests make Mother’s Day extra special with several easy, ready-to-cook and ready-to-heat meal options for the holiday. They have filet mignon, seabass cakes, prime rib, with side options to pick as well if you wanted to do dinner.  Mother’s Day Meals Online Ordering ends May 10 at 2:00. In-store pickup only May 10-12.
