If you’ve ever heard a rooster crow early in the morning (shout out to all my farmers out there!) you know how loud it can be. People have actually measured the sound and it’s hit as high as 140 decibels which can be extremely damaging to the ears and hearing.
If it can do that to our ears, what about the roosters themselves?!
Well, one of the things researchers discovered was that when the bird opens their jaw to crow, their outer ear canals actually close up on their own, giving them sort of a natural earplug.
Nature, right? Crazy!
