This is an incredibly inspiring story. A blind skateboarder from Michigan named Daniel Mancina recently broke a world record for longest “50-50 grind” on a skateboard. He slide 20 feet, 5 inches on his board down the rail.
Now you might be wondering how does he safely skateboard when he cannot see? Good question, he actually uses a cane before he sets out to conquer whatever area he’s skating on. That way he can plan out where the obstacles are and figure out which way he’s going to go. Take from someone who skateboarded all through high school it’s already hard enough when you CAN SEE, I can’t even imagine doing it blind. So major congrats to Daniel for figuring this out.
And now he’s even helping other blind skaters by building adaptive skate parks for visually impaired kids who want to take up skateboarding. He’s going ot host workshops, lessons, and hope to get skateboarding into the 2028 Paralympics.
Amazing
