Today is my birthday. Thank you, thank you, for all bday wishes. Anna and Raven even sang me happy birthday earlier today. Which got me thinking. Who wrote the birthday song?
The song’s melody was created as a school teachers’ greeting song titled “Good Morning to All”, which was composed by two American sisters name Mildred and Patty Hill way back in 1893.
The first “Happy Birthday to You” lyrics happened in 1912 but no one was credited with the writing of them. The version we all sing today was written in a songbook by a guy named Robert Coleman in 1924.
All these years later… and it’s never changed. Happy Birthday to me!
