If you’ve ever been at a concert where they play a ballad or slow song you’ve probably been part of the phenomenon where people all hold up lighters in the crowd. These days it has switched over to people using their cell phone flashlight or screen which is a little safer. But when did this all begin?
There are many different theories on this but the most popular one is that it started back in the 60s and 70s. Specifically at Woodstock in 1969 when people held up their lighters to honor musicians who had passed away.
