Big weekend at movie theatres. The new Marvel movie Black Widow brought in $80 million at the box office which is the best opening for a movie since the pandemic began. Good to see people back in the theatres eating delicious tubs of popcorn. But why do we eat popcorn when we go to the movies anyway?
It all started when movies with sound first came out in mass release back in 1927. Move goers naturally wanted to bring snacks into to cinema while they watched. Local street vendors saw this opportunity and decided to start selling their popcorn outside cinemas. That was the easiest snack to make and sell so that’s why people have been eating popcorn at the cinema ever since.
Extra butter please!
