THE FEED: CT Food Girly’s Must-Trys at CT Pizza and Brew Fest!

Tuesdays on The Feed, Kevin and Jenna chat with CT Food Girly about all the great places to eat in Connecticut. You can find Alex on Instagram: @ctfoodgirly.
Alex shares her strategy for the CT Pizza and Brew Fest on August 11, highlighting some of her favorite pizza trucks and the best slices to try. She also takes us through the Beer Garden, where everyone will find a variety of craft and non-alcoholic beers, traditional brews, and refreshing cocktail juices.

Check out Alex’s picks below:

Seg 1: Pizza Trucks

Big Green Pizza Truck
I love their classic mozzarella pizza. This pizza truck is, to me, Connecticut’s first antique wood-fired pizza truck – that needs to be known and enjoyed by all. They also own and operate their restaurant in New Haven called Next Door. It’s a great way to get this pizza all the time. I swear once you try a slice, you’ll want to wait in line all over again.

Dough Girls
They make their own dough, sauce, fresh mozzarella, and seasonal toppings. They specialize in individual size wood-fired pizzas. When I see them at events, farmers markets, or festivals, I know I’m going to get a great pizza. They have margarita, pepperoni, pesto, mashed potato, and more. I would keep it simple and go for the mozzarella slice, just to compare for the day.

Rolling Inferno
This truck is based out of my hometown of North Haven. They have a cooler full of Foxon Park on their trucks and serve everything from classic red sauce pizzas to unique gourmet combinations.

Una Dolce Vita
Based out of Bridgeport, I’ve been to their restaurant before. Their service is phenomenal, the food is delicious, and the pizza was so tasty. I distinctly remember their Grandma pie – a square, thin crust pizza with robust tomato sauce, grated parmesan, and basil.

Zuppardi’s Apizza
Authentic New Haven-style Apizza – this family-run pizzeria has standout clam pies. I love the sauce they use. The classic mozzarella slice would be worth the wait.

Seg 2: Beer Garden

Athletic Brewing Company
Based out of Milford, they are revolutionizing beer for the modern adult with craft and non-alcoholic beer and hop-infused sparkling water. If you’ve seen the cans this summer and want to try, this is a great event to do so and learn more about this Connecticut-based company.

Counter Weight
They honor long-held brewing traditions and explore new and innovative methods when creating new beers. They have four core brands and a great option for their rotating beers. Even if you’re not a huge beer lover, they have the skills and experience to find one that fits your palette at the festival.

Ripe Bar Juice
I would swing by to try their cocktail juices. I love how they come out with new flavors, like their tiki punch. This is a great way to explore new options, especially if you love making cocktails at home or on the beach or boat this summer and need a good tasting base.

Pirate Water
They offer ready-to-drink cocktails with four distinct tropical flavors. They just launched their Wicked Tea – an uncarbonated brew with hints of lemon. I think this company can really blow up and would love to try what they offer.
