MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do bananas curve?

I’ve always wondered this. Why do bananas look like they do?

The reason behind it is that bananas go through a process called “negative geo-tropism”. Which I can hardly pronounce, but it basically is a fancy way to say that they grow upwards towards the sun instead of towards the ground like some other foods. Which is what causes the curved shape.
